Workshops
Through my creative work as an artist-educator, I’ve introduced thousands of youth to cultural arts and crafts traditions through supportive organizations, including many schools and universities.
I share my rich Puerto Rican heritage with my students through innovative hands-on approaches that include music, mythology and storytelling — timeless aspects of the art that I believe are relevant to the lives of urban youth today — youth who are confronted by gaps between themselves and their elders, their integrated diverse neighbors and even their own, evolving self-worth. For nearly 20 years, my arts integration curricula for programs at schools, cultural and recreational institutions, and community-based organizations have been designed primarily for elementary and secondary school students, class sizes typically ranging from 12 to 25 students. Drop-in family audiences can amount to several hundred participants, including volunteer assistants. Contact me about bringing a workshop to your school, community or organization. |
